The products of the Italian designer lighting manufacturer Karman are all made locally in Italy - by hand. Manual processes play a major role here, especially in the production of the glass bodies, which are all handblown. In such a production process, old craft techniques are passed on, on the one hand, and charming individual pieces are created, on the other hand.
Ceraunavolta - the name of this series of lights from Karman - means "Once upon a time" if you read it as "C'era una volta". It is not completely clear whether the designer who gave it its name wanted to imply that the lights have a fairytale appearance or that they are reminiscent of past times. The interpretation is in the eye of the beholder. The clear lampshade of the hanging light has a teardrop shape and is covered by a small, diamond pattern. The light bulb is not directly visible, but is surrounded by a small, satin-finished glass cylinder for the sake of glare protection and a better light distribution.
