These explain where it’s safe to install electrical products based on their proximity to water outlets like taps and showers. Each zone is suitable for different items based on their IP, or ingress protection rating. This LED mirror has been designed and manufactured for installation anywhere within zone 2 or 3. Zone 2 extends 0.6m from the edge of the bath and a height of 2.25m from the floor. The area around the wash basin can also be considered as zone 2 if it is in a 60cm radius of a tap. An IP rating of at least IP44 is required in zone 2. Zone 3 is considered as anywhere a water jet is not being used and is outside zones 0, 1 and 2. For zone 3 there is no IP rating required. If in zones 1, 2 or 3 there is any chance of water being used for the purpose of cleaning, a fitting rated a minimum of IP65 must be used.
