Around that time, the architect P.V. Jensen-Klint produced the first pleated lampshade for a paraffin lamp. From then on, this lampshade was refined and developed further within the Klint household, and became a popular gift for the family to give to friends and relatives. In 1943, Tage Klint made the family's craft hobby into a career and founded Le Klint, a lighting company whose hallmark is still the hand-pleated lampshades. Every single lampshade is still made by hand in Odense on the island of Funen, ensuring that every 101 hanging light is a truly unique item.
